The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack Bites Into US Album Charts

As the entertainment media machine continues to seduce impressionable teenage girls with witchcraft (Harry Potter) and vampires (Twilight), the Chop Shop/Atlantic Records, rock soundtrack for Summit Entertainment's upcoming Vancouver-lensed sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon has moved up to the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200, US album chart.Released October 16, the soundtrack has so far sold 155,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures.The 'vampire teen romance' sequel, opening November 20, includes songs by Death Cab for Cutie, the Killers and Grizzly Bear.New Moon is based on the novel by author Stephenie Meyer and is the sequel to the 2008 feature Twilight.Directed by Chris Weitz, the feature stars actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, reprising their roles as 'Bella Swan', 'Edward Cullen' and 'Jacob Black'.Melissa Rosenberg wrote the screenplay, reportedly handing in a draft of New Moon to Summit Entertainment executives during the massive opening weekend of Twilight."...Bella Swan is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen, but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black.
