Canadian film actor Hugh “Flashpoint” Dillon presented author Colin McAdam’s Fall.

Actress Rachelle “Twilight” Lefevre presented author Anne Michaels’ The Winter Vault.

Author Wayne Johnston presented broadcaster/author Linden MacIntyre’s The Bishop’s Man.

Broadcaster/author Paula Todd presented Annabel Lyon’s The Golden Mean.

The Scotiabank Giller Prize awards $50,000 annually to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English, with $5,000 to each of the finalists. The Awards are named in honour of late literary journalist Doris Giller, founded in 1994 by her husband Toronto businessman Jack Rabinovitch.

Update: Linden MacIntyre has been named the 2009 winner of the Scotiabank Giller Prize for his novel The BishopÂ’s Man, published by Random House Canada.

The announcement was made live on Bravo! and BookTelevision at the black-tie dinner/award ceremony that drew nearly 500 members of the local publishing, media and arts communities…

Sneak Peek the HD teaser trailer for director Tim “Batman” Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, adapting author Lewis Carroll’s classic (public domain) novels “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass”.

The fantasy film, to be released in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D, combines live action, motion capture technology and stop motion, starring actress Mia Wasikowska as ‘Alice’.

“The goal is to try to make it an engaging movie,” said Burton, “where you get some of the psychology and kind of bring a ‘freshness’, but also keep the classic nature of Alice.”

Sony Pictures Imageworks designed the film’s numerous VFX sequences.

Alice In Wonderland also stars actors Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Matt Lucas and Christopher Lee.

The Walt Disney Picture will be released March 19, 2010.
