Angora Napkin, a 2008 graphic novel by Canadian Troy Little has been adapted into a TV series pilot, produced by Charlottetown, P.E.I. production company Mugisha Enterprises."We were given an unprecedented amount of creative freedom bringing this show to life," said Little."I think fans of the graphic novel will find nothing has been watered down. All the sex, violence and innuendo are firmly in place.The pilot focuses on the 'bubble-gum pop' music trio, 'Angora Napkin', whose members, 'Beatrice', 'Molly' and 'Mallory' get themselves into deep trouble, running into 'zombies' and other creatures of the 'macabre'.Angora Napkin will be available for streaming Oct. 30 to Nov. 5 on the Teletoon web site, targeting adults 18-34."Angora Napkin is a quirky show like nothing else out there," said Little. Paranormal Activity, the 2007 'mockumentary' horror film written/directed by Oren Peli, wide released by Paramount October 16, has so far grossed $65 million in the US/Canada, making previous low-budget horror champ Saw look like so much chopped liver.The movie focuses on 'Katie' and 'Micah', who are haunted by a supernatural presence in their home, using footage from a camera set up by the couple to capture what is haunting them.Paramount was able to snap up distribution rights for a song, as director/producer Peli lensed the feature in his own home, using unknown actors, for a total budget of $15,000. Vancouver-lensed Smallville will include members of DC Comics "Justice Society Of America", in the 2-part episode Society, featuring the return of actor Phil Morris as the 'Martian Manhunter'.The episodes, airing in 2010, were scripted by writer Geoff Johns, showcasing costumed superheroes 'Hawkman', 'Doctor Fate' and 'Stargirl'.'J'onn J'onzz', aka the 'Martian Manhunter', first appeared in the back-up story "The Strange Experiment of Dr. Erdel" in DC's Detective Comics #225 (Nov. 1955), written by Joseph Samachson and illustrated by Joe Certa. The character was a green-skinned extraterrestrial humanoid from the planet Mars, pulled to earth by an experimental communication device, constructed by 'Dr. Erdel' that accidentally became a teleportation beam.The shock of the close encounter killed Erdel and left J'onn with no method of returning home. He then decides to fight crime while waiting for Martian technology to advance to a stage that will enable a rescue.
